The local election

This is not a news article translation, but my personal posting.

On Jun.2, We had the most interesting local election ever. Many Koreans, especially 20s are very discontented with the president Myung-bak Lee and hate him so much that almost every people calls him "rat" because his look reminds us a rat.

So there was a mood encouraging people to vote for opposition party so that people can hinder him in carrying out his insane plans like digging a canal in a country that already has a very good and fast road/flight transportation, or pushing for health care privatization. The key was young voter turnout, because older/rich ones traditionally support the ruling party(conservation party) and their turnout is always very high compare to the younger people's one. But sadly 20s didn't vote as much as people expected and Se-hun Oh, who is a member of the ruling party, has been elected for major of Seoul two times in a row after playing a seesaw game with a member of opposition party.

A good thing is, this time opposition party members consist 75% of provincial assembly of Seoul, so now they can keep the eye on ruling party members, including mayor of Seoul. Before this election, ruling party members consisted almost 100% of assembly. The progressives consider this as a great and joyful change. It was a very fun election enough :-)
